With the MyGenius device, the consumer can read and write tuned ECU files by themselves. The goal with tuning is to modify the stock ECU for more power and torque, but also lower exhaust gas temperatures. With the device, it is possible to put the vehicle back in stock mode before taking the vehicle to service. Turnover time for tunes is typically during normal working hours. Special requests are filled whenever possible. The specified maximum turnover time is 48 hours.

ECU Tuning MyGenius Installation

  • Connect MyGenius to the vehicle's diagnostic port and read the ECU's original software into the device's memory.

  • Connect the device to a computer and download the software to the computer.

  • Send the software via email for customization (detailed instructions included).

  • Specify your preferences for the software customization in your email.

  • Upon receiving the modified file via email, load it onto the MyGenius device.

  • Connect the device to the vehicle and load the new software onto the vehicle's ECU, and you're ready to go!

If desired, you can revert to the original program and the modified program in the vehicle's ECU memory as often as you wish. The program versions are stored in the MyGenius device's memory.

What are chip tuning, remapping, ECU-flashing, recalibrating?

All of these terms stand for recalibrating the software maps in your power sport vehicle´s engine control unit (ECU). The software inside the engine control unit controls the full spectrum of operations needed to make the engine run.

Recalibrating the control maps and parameters change

  • The way the vehicle drives
  • Increases power and torque
  • Improves throttle response
  • Lowers exhaust gas temperatures and decreases the heat load inside the engine.

Changes that can be applied when performing recalibration

  • Modifying the threshold where the cooling fan activates and shuts off
  • Remove the speed limit on high and low gears
  • Raise the speed limit on the reverse or when the differential lock is activated

Is chiptuning safe?

Yes, it is, when your powersport vehicle is in good condition and the engine has been serviced as specified by the manufacturer.

Why don’t manufacturers tune their ECUs?

They do, some models have the same engine but have a de-tuned version on the less powerful models. This is a familiar way of producing less powerful vehicles from the automotive world with identical mechanical parts and features.

Manufacturers also want to leave something in reserve to make new more powerful versions in the future. One factor is to be able to meet the current emission standards for new vehicles. Unfortunately, this results in high exhaust gas temperatures that cause discomfort in the driving experience. High-temperature load is not good for your engine in the long run. Globally fuel qualities vary a lot, therefore manufacturers have to take this into account so that the engines would not be damaged.

How long does chiptuning take?

In most cases, our file service takes 0-48 hours if you want to use a handheld tuner device with multiple tuned files. If you buy a tune from our professional tuning partners the turnover time is usually during the same business day. In some cases, turnover time can be longer, depending on the vehicle, if no tune is available yet or special solutions are requested.

Can I revert my Powersport vehicle to its stock software?

Yes. With our handheld tuner device, you will always have the original software stored. Our tuning partners can also change the original software back with our assistance.

Is it true that tuning can increase the power and reduce fuel consumption?

We do not want to make false promises of decreasing fuel consumption. Usually, the fuel consumption stays the same or might increase a bit. In power sport vehicles with CVT drivetrains, the best mileage will be accomplished with proper clutching. To experience the biggest fuel-saving benefits, it is important not to change your driving style significantly after tuning. On the other hand, most drivers will enjoy the extra power and drive more aggressively, especially in the first few months after recalibrating their ECU software.

Are your files road-tested / dyno-tested?

Yes, they are. We have three roller dynos and one crankshaft dyno with proper sensors and data logging that we use for developing new quality-controlled tunes. Our test driver team does field tests in mud, snow, skeg, and gravel roads before launching new tunes for sales. We take pride that our tunes have been thoroughly tested and fine-tuned to provide the best and safest driving experience.

Do you offer different tuning stages?

Yes, on some vehicle models. Different power stages are mentioned when they are available. We have experience even with racing applications. The processing time might be longer.

My file is not original, is this a problem?

We prefer to work with original stock files. If you do not have, or cannot find the original file, please let us know in advance and we will see if we can work on your vehicle.
